SEO Tip - The Myth of the <META> tag

Several years ago, it used to be enough to stuff a lot of keywords into your HTML document <META> tags to receive a high search engine ranking.

(<META> Tags are found at the beginning of most HTML documents.)

Not any more. Most <META> tags are almost completely ignored by the search engines, with a few notable exceptions. For example, the content of the <meta name="description"> tag which should contain a short summary of your company and/or page, is often used as the snippet that displays in the Search Engine Results page.

As a result, you should spend a little bit of time on crafting this description. It's almost like your Elevator Speech...
